Education, Work and Service

In 1989 I graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, NC with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  I majored in Psychology and shortly after graduating went on to work in the field of Outdoor Experiential Education.  My first job in this area was with a program called Touch of Nature located in Southern Illinois.  I worked mainly thirty day wilderness adventure courses with "Youth at Risk" from all over the state of Illinois.

In these courses I would instruct students in outdoor living and traveling; canoeing; rock climbing and rappelling; caving; ropes course and teams initiatives; and work and service projects.  After working with this program for three years, I went on to work for another three years with several other outdoor programs including: the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), the North Carolina Outward Bound School, and Woodswomen.  These various programs took me on outdoor adventures in some of the most beautiful and wild areas of our country, and occasionally out of the country.

After making the decision to pursue a career in Structural Integration I traveled out to Boulder, Colorado and began my training at the Guild for Structural Integration.  I started with an intensive course covering anatomy, physiology and integrative massage.  I followed this course with the basic training for Structural Integration with instructors Emmett Hutchins and Peter Melchior.  After completing my training I continued living and working in Colorado for another year before moving back home to North Carolina.  I have been living and practicing Structural Integration in Asheville, NC for two years and I'm thrilled to be living in such a beautiful area and doing the work that I love to do.

Service Experience

For the past two years I have traveled to Peru to offer my skills as a practitioner of Structural Integration to children in several different villages and cities around Peru. I joined a group of several other holistic practitioners and volunteers and traveled to some of the most poverty stricken areas in Peru - areas where there is very little available health care.  Often if there is health care available, the people cannot afford to pay for it.

Our team is committed to healing with love, and we have many tools that we utilize.  We work through Structural Integration, Flower Essences, Art Therapy, Homeopathy, Essential Oils, various Herbal Remedies, and lots of education and emotional support. These experiences working with the children and families of Peru have made a very powerful impact on my life and my work and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue to be of service.
